Do you take commissions/do custom maps?

Yes! Please see details at my Custom Maps page.

Do you have a map of [insert mountain range here]?

Everything I currently have available is on the shop page. If you are interested in having a certain map made more quickly, please check out my custom maps page. Otherwise, feel free to email me and let me know what range you’d like to see eventually - it make take me a while to get to it, however. The list is getting quite long!

What is your return policy?

North Fork Mapping is a one-woman shop and I print each map as an order comes in, so at this time I cannot accept returns or exchanges because you have changed your mind. If your item arrived damaged or you believe there is a problem with the map you received, please email me with details and a photo and I’ll get back to you!

Do you do wholesale?

Yes! Please click here for my direct link to Faire. You can also email me [hello@northforkmapping.com] and I will get you my latest line item sheet.

Can I get a puzzle of [insert map here]?

I can most likely make this happen. If it is a map that I have turned into a puzzle before, then this is less complicated - it will cost more than the average puzzle on our site as you are ordering a one-off project and it usually takes a few weeks to arrive. If I haven’t turned the map you’re requesting into a puzzle before, it takes time for me to adjust the map to fit the puzzle and create the custom box for it, so there will be an additional $50 design charge on top of the price/shipping of the puzzle. Email me if you’re interested and we can discuss further!

Where do you get the maps that you print?

This was not a question I had predicted getting when I started all of this. I don’t “get” the maps anywhere - these are maps that I am designing myself from publicly available spatial data. There are some sites out there that have built in base maps where you can click and drag to the area you want and create your “print” from there. This is not one of those sites. I gather the spatial data needed for each project from local, state, federal, and other sites, I run the spatial analysis to do things such as build the topo lines, I chose the color, line weight, font, etc. for each and every item on the map, and I hand place each label to ensure nothing important is left out. I believe if you are paying for a map, you should get the highest level of quality and I strive to provide that, giving the utmost attention of detail to each map I create, printing out multiple drafts and checking for errors and how different aspects could look better before releasing the final product.

When will I get my map [Processing and shipping details]?

North Fork Mapping is a one-woman shop and I am not always sitting in front of my computer. Please allow 1-5 days for processing - if I am planning to be away for longer than that, I will have a banner up on my website. In general, I try to ship and print twice a week. If you select 2-day or 1-day shipping, please keep the processing time in mind. If you are in a crunch - shoot me an email and I’ll do my best to accommodate.

Are the maps archival quality?

Yes! All maps are printed with archival quality inks. 11”x14” and 11”x17” maps are printed on 88 lb paper [330 gsm] and sizes 16”x20” and larger are printed on 60 lb paper [229 gsm].

I use Red River Paper and love the quality of products they provide - we just use one type, but they have a large range of products. If you’d like to check them out, I’ve linked to their sample kits here. I love the sample kits as a place to start so you can test your art on different papers and determine which you like the best! I am proud to be a Red River Paper affiliate which means that if you purchase through that link, I get a small commission (I would not be an affiliate if I didn’t love them!).

Do you ship internationally?

I do not have this set up as an option on my site as details vary for each country; however, if you’d like to have a map shipped internationally, please contact me with details and I’ll provide a quote.
